Institute
Where research becomes something an organisation can actually deploy.
The GDT Institute is the structure through which research becomes operational. Not a consultancy. Not an academic programme. The institutional layer that absorbs the translation risk that sits between what a laboratory produces and what a board can govern.
We work at this translation point in cooperation with leading research institutions — most prominently the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam, one of Europe’s foremost centres for software systems and data engineering. Long-term research programmes, not project engagements. Shared risk, not billed hours. Access to the network — its research capacity, its funding pathways, its institutional relationships — comes through the relationship.

Research
Long-cycle research programmes in the domains where AI and institutional complexity meet: Software Analytics, Spatial Intelligence, Visual Computing, and Algorithmic Infrastructure. Anchored in academic partnerships built over more than a decade — not commissioned, but co-developed.
Entrepreneurship
The pathway from research output to operational entity. We have built this translation more than once — which is what makes the risk manageable and the timeline realistic.
Industry Network
Two decades of relationships with enterprises, institutions, and public bodies at the point where technology decisions are actually made. Not pipeline. Not lead generation. Access.
“The most consequential technologies are not built in funding cycles.”

Research Partner
Hasso Plattner Institute
The Hasso Plattner Institute is Europe’s leading independent research centre for software systems engineering and digital innovation — founded by one of Germany’s most consequential technology entrepreneurs, based in Potsdam. GDT’s cooperation with HPI is not transactional. It is the research foundation from which our work in software governance, spatial intelligence, and visual computing draws its academic grounding. The partnership has operated across multiple long-cycle programmes. It is ongoing.
